Why LiveXP about touchpad and keyboard?

Run the LiveCD on the laptop c XP to copy the firmware of the BIOS. The system is started, the touchpad and keyboard work, but when you open the Windows or try to copy a file, or other operations (the pattern does not quite understand) they are disabled. At first I thought the laptop hangs, but then I saw that the clock in the system tray continue to go... can anyone met?
