How much "eats" traffic Ubuntu?

There are times when there is no direct Internet connection, in cases where it would be possible to access the access point from a mobile connection for your PC. Unfortunately, the sad experience I know how Windows 10 can quietly "eat" the traffic even after specifying the connection settings, paid and following the other tips.

The question itself - "eats" is also in pure Ubuntu? It would be interesting to hear the advice.

Solution
Disable updates in ubuntu will eat 0 bytes.
Make manual mode, updated, still need. - Roger.Erns commented on July 2nd 19 at 17:51

What do You want? Big Brother wants to see you - so Windows and knocking, where prescribed. Linux by itself eats just for the traffic updates - installed software, programs, and some programs update need inside it disable - FF for example, toad, Flash Player...
And Java and Flash Player are updated via the standard mechanisms, except that Firefox extension but it is disabled (or you are not from repositories, put Firefox, but is also disconnected). - Roger.Erns commented on July 2nd 19 at 17:53
Big brother you are not interested. - Roger.Erns commented on July 2nd 19 at 17:56

: Still as interesting. It is a mistake to assume that "I'm a little man" (C) Kamnoedov Now, when total starts the era of big data, with relacionado analysis, you can calculate absolutely incredible things.

: FF, if running, is constantly poked the updates to check himself and extension. This, of course, to disable, but enabled by default. - Esta_Upton commented on July 2nd 19 at 18:08

If you fear for the traffic - it is better to not put Ubuntu (in which unity is trying so hard to please user that loads the ads on its search in the applications menu), and Xubuntu, for example. Well, of course, if you put, say, a weather widget - it extends to the Internet for information. Included messenger - is similar. Launch the browser - it could theoretically be their own interests, especially in add-ons.
And the system Internet will not come back, why would she? Startup update check disable all.
To use xfce4, do not have to put Xubuntu in Ubuntu to install itself xfce4 :) - Roger.Erns commented on July 2nd 19 at 17:55
: I also thought that with Mint you can just play, and when tired - to return to Xfce from repository. Got a system that pollutive in the details, and the car half-dead packs, hooked dependencies. Make sense? - Roger.Erns commented on July 2nd 19 at 17:58
Third-party checks updates FOR all clear. Question - are there any other telemetry in Ubuntu, as they like to build in Windows? - Jaqueline.Parisian commented on July 2nd 19 at 18:01
: you need to find out or to avoid it? For the second option, I repeat the answer - put Xubuntu. Nothing but more classic interface and less "care about the interests of the user", this distribution does not differ. - Jaqueline.Parisian commented on July 2nd 19 at 18:04
Irrelevant - Esta_Upton commented on July 2nd 19 at 18:07
: I do not know what you have wrong with Mint, I have Ubuntu with Unity, KDE5, Gnome 3, Gnome classic and XFCE4 at the same time, no problem. - Esta_Upton commented on July 2nd 19 at 18:10
: well, add ppl were collected by the playful hands of Mantova - look, learn ;)
Actually, I noticed only a few problems with programs living in the system tray occasionally suddenly, without any initiative on my part, GoldenDict crashes down. And gmusicbrowser completely refuses to correct off - again prefers to crash with an error. Nonsense, of course... But exactly the same program with the same data under the same environment on the machine where you originally set is not mint, and Xubuntu - work flawlessly. Have to conclude... - Esta_Upton commented on July 2nd 19 at 18:13

Ubuntu eats nothing. MB check for updates, but the pump is not.
Win too is not eating, if properly set up brandmauer - policy white list + disable updates. Important for win7 and below. What kind of obscurantism in win10 with telemetry - XS, but I saw a lot of resources like this case to eradicate (configs).
