How to use ffmpeg or anything else "compress" a video file?

There is a video lasts ~4 minutes, in wmv format, no transcendent quality is not there, but it weighs as much as 300 MB. How to stiati \ or convert it with minimal losses?

Solution
Would be nice to know what video. To do this, it can be fed to ffprobe.
https://ffmpeg.org/ffprobe.html
And already from it to dance - to reduce fps, resolution, bitrate, remove the extra paths, to try different libraries in the same ffmpeg, maybe something will give and decrease the number of keyframes.

ffmpeg -i input.wmv -c:v libx264 -crf 23-c:a libfaac -q:a 100 output.mp4

TSE helped - sofia.Maggio commented on June 3rd 19 at 19:11
try to decrease the bitrate of the video 3 times (key -b:v 2M). - Kian_Ripp commented on June 3rd 19 at 19:14
I would be afraid to FHD videos so hard to reduce the bitrate even 6 Mbps may be enough. Another thing is that the pinch is already in H264\265 may be sufficient (what happened, as I understand it) - celestino_Kuvalis commented on June 3rd 19 at 19:17
