What is the difference between Rows_examined and Rows in MySQL?

In slow-query.log before requesting such a description:
# Query_time: 0.378678 Lock_time: 0.003237 Rows_sent: 20 Rows_examined: 315293

Copy this query and execute it with EXPLAIN and see in field Rows 2304.
Isn't that the same thing? Why are the figures different?

EXPLAIN for InnoDB gives an inaccurate estimate of the number of rows. Cm. documentation.
