If you have nothing but SQL there - give all the cores to him.
What you've read about the doubling is HyperThreading and nothing to do with virtual reality has not.
"give all the cores to him," it is all 4 ? - ceasar.Buckridge commented on July 8th 19 at 12:15

you need to give as many cores, how many can really "master" virtual machine. it is pointless to allocate 8 cores to the V-world, which turns apps that are optimized for only two. in your case, obviously, we are talking about mssql or similar industrial database, which is able to work competently in a multicore environment, so allocate can (and should) all available cores.
