What literature to read about the electronic payment services?

Planned the integration of an online store with e-payment service (similar to PayPal and POISON). I would like more details to understand the scenarios, patterns of interaction not only between THEM and service but between the service and Bank and other customers to be aware of any pitfalls that are not documented in the API documentation.
