Terms of license - home edition can be used in a small company, no problems, except for the lack of AD support will not.

Even the official appointment of the "Home edition" is for home and small business.

Are You sure that you need a server with HomeEdition?
Collect platform BSD-based or Linux + OpenSource solution (as an example of the direction in which to dig - https://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/VTiger_CRM).

AFAIK (did not work with e-staff since 2012), the backend can start under wine, there is a special shamanism is not necessary. The Standalone version works under wine.

Legally. Absolutely. The difference is in the functionality. No restrictions on type of use (unlike Office) MC here does not impose.
