What was wrong with ArrayHelper::index to Yii2 2.0.8?

Up to version 2.0.7 documentation described the function index with three attributes - $array, $key, $groups, although in the helper all branch 2 version had two - $array, $key.
So what was the matter, if only in version 2.0.8 was implemented this simple code with three attributes? Why the discrepancy between the documentation with the code? Wanted to, but forgot?
