What are VPS, there to Docker on Ubuntu worked quickly?

Need on Ubuntu to collect in the Docker relatively large project (pros and cmake).

My laptop for 20K at once disappears, though, there and put 8 GB of RAM and full SSD. And the dev will be slow, and to put Ubuntu as the main hotstsa not.

I bought a VPS Ubuntu server, 16, 8 GB of RAM and 8 cores at 2.2 GHz, SSD.

But Docker is a very long build. And much longer than if on the same server outside of Docker.

Does the nature of VPS, where you can normally work with Docker, and how to choose (technology virtualization what?)?
And if DS (not V)?

The Docker minimal overhead, the problem is clearly not in it
btw strace to the running Docker but not very fast - because of this build in a Docker may be significantly slower, whereas on the host drop less than 50% - astrid_Sawayn commented on June 5th 19 at 21:23
