Can I write in Kotlin, if I don't know Java?

I'm 16 and I don't go to work and simply choose the language of taste. Want to write for Android, is it mandatory to know Java or just enough to know its standard library?

What do you mean by the phrase "to know him standard library"? Now your question sounds like this:
Want to become a driver, do I need to learn how to drive or just to be able to spin the wheel?

Kotlin is not a library, and a programming language. It can be viewed as sugar on top of pure Java(like Typescript over Javascript). To dive into the programming of Kotlin is not suitable, since it has a poor documentation and small community compared to Java.

If you have a choice between Java & Kotlin, then definitely learn Java. Having studied Java in some sense no longer need to learn Kotlin. And in General, Kotlin running on the same JVM. And yet, Kotlin is not the official language of Android, though there are as many as in 2010. So, which Java))
In fact, Kotlin is the official language of Android. For a year. Good morning.
Why climb to give advice if you don't even follow the language which give advice? - Agustin_Greenholt49 commented on June 5th 19 at 21:32

Read Java still have - a lot of examples and libraries.
Kotlin is still under a little. And will not stay only within Kotlin.
