Why can't you connect a hard drive through a router with a usb port to a smart tv?

Good evening!

I wanted to optimize the process of watching movies on the new LG TV 55LB675V. The idea is this: the hard drive always connected to the router from the laptop I send movies to a network drive and the TV watching them . First I connected an external hard drive to router Zyxel Keenetic II, then checked his availability in the Internet centre of the router and connected a network drive on the laptop. The problem is that the TV does not see the disk. Through the SmartShare service is only displayed my laptop connected to the wi-fi network.

You want the router acted as servers DLNA.

An example of the user.

Some Internet centers support this staff.
Thank you! Turned on DLNA and it worked. - broderick.Gutmann50 commented on September 18th 19 at 23:53
