How to configure helpdesk via SMS?

I want to create a system in which users can write SMS to helpdesk, and the operators could respond to these SMS, without leaving the interface helpdesk.
As far as I understand, the receiving-sending SMS can provide smpp gateway service like There helpdesk system that can send http requests containing the comments of the ticket, and, respectively, to accept such reports and to register them as tickets / comments?

Alternatively: what software is able to properly translate SMS received from the same smsc in email?
