What to choose RainTPL or Smarty?

Decided to completely rewrite one of their modules for DLE and it just so happened that I did not fit (and not like) standard DLEшный the engine lacks the opportunity. The module is intended for custom display news, will be very many different options for the output settings, which is the default template engine will be a lot of problems and most likely brakes.

So I look to the side 3 RainTPL or Smarty.
Both of the templating engine, in principle, similar for writing variables to an ordinary mortal (for the user who installed the module on your site and customized a template to suit yourself).
I personally like RainTPL, but with Smarty, I did not work, so I want to hear the opinion of experienced colleagues dealing with these template engines. It may have any obvious advantages one of them compared to others? Or overt schools?

Solution
I use smarty, very comfortable, many years of working with it written many plugins for easy development.
View back in the direction of fenom is very fast!
Read about fenom - in my opinion it is the best candidate for integration in the module, so everything is very easy to use, especially for an inexperienced user. And development of domestic, that doubly pleased!
Thanks, I will integrate fenom. - sophie_Botsfo commented on September 26th 19 at 11:53
Good luck in integration, in the 1st project used, I also really liked! it can be as close to smarti ( https://github.com/bzick/fenom-extra ), but this is for fans of Smarty - Chauncey_Koepp48 commented on September 26th 19 at 11:56
fenom just closest to the template engine DLE, which is also very good, no need to add anything finished :) - sophie_Botsfo commented on September 26th 19 at 11:59

the benchmarks will be faster RainTPL 3, but more functional - Twig
At the moment the functionality of RainTPL 3 is enough, but Twig also deserves attention, thanks for the tip, read more details about this template engine. Glad that a lot of documentation in Russian. - sophie_Botsfo commented on September 26th 19 at 11:55
