What is the breakdown of collections in java?

Not found the clear explanation. There's something in Bruce Accela in his philosophy. But it is not entirely clear. Would appreciate the simple explanation. Thank you

C java don't know, but perhaps you meant the Java Collections Framework?

I can assume that we are talking about the incorrect behavior of collections in case of non fulfillment of the contract of equals/hashCode. For example HashMap is obliged to work correctly only if this pair of methods is implemented correctly.
