How to make a laptop

Colleagues!

At me to you a very strange question, which I would guess he'd come to dread. But it sounds so — how to assemble a laptop himself? That is interested in where you can take a matrix, motherboard and other components, as well as batteries and how it is all put together in a special case which I'll do. Also where you can order the keyboard charge with programmable keys. All very messy, but on the other somehow does not work. For a start, would be the cheapest parts (who knows where to get) for the first experiment. And may be someone already faced with similar or working on the production of laptops and know how of the basics of adhere to in the design and implementation? Prompt where to dig.

Thank you in advance.

You can buy the cheapest laptop, disassemble completely, mix parts and try to build.

If only for myself, then the motherboard and the kit on the nano-ITX power supply of twelve volts. Battery perhaps best of AA batteries. As a monitor ready TV or old monitor. To him it is better to pick up a touchpad panel (or rather Vice versa). Keyboard harder, the cost of individual industrial solutions will be very expensive, and the normally very difficult to do. I can only recommend to use a rubber keyboard for a separate connection.
And now new full-fledged laptop you can buy for $400.

It is obvious that you should start with radio markets. Then see ads selling non-working laptops (which are parts). The most exotic order from ebay. How to build in your body — only You know :)

Well, the first step is of course Google. The request to collect the laptop gives quite adequate results. Example: article from THG 2005.

Good luck :)
Thank you, I really did a stupid thing and googled it not so. I will dig further.:) - kyle.Hackett commented on October 10th 19 at 13:56

First you need to define the target audience.
For example -girls Teens, then we have the body to do pink, with smooth contours, decorate Swarovski. Accessories to buy a maximum of the glossy, glamorous, etc.
If CA — geeks, the body can not do ;)

I think you need to start by teaching artists — a repeat of the paintings of the masters.
Take laptop. dismantle and collect. Then try to repeat the case and mount components in there. Repeat the process until satisfactory results. And then different bodies from different manufacturers. So you will understand the logic of the device housing. Then it will be clear how to make the case for the planned components.

You have two options: modding and "from scratch".
Modding is when you take simple, like the EEE 701, and then wprivate to a bunch of flash drives, TV tuner, GPS, 3G, 4G, changing the battery, etc., etc., change the matrix, in the end find out that the case is no longer closed and make a new body...
This is a relatively simple way and, paradoxically, the cheapest...

Option 2: take a microITX motherboard, and-if possible — picoITX, mobile TV, and then decide to turn it into a laptop...
For starters — you need a BP. It can be bought in the shops under the ITX Board called the picoPSU and is a scarf, stick to the power connector on the mother.
It at least will have to resolder, because otherwise it is pretty high crap.
Next, connection of the monitor. If you save and buy without a VGA input — you need an adapter type AverKey VGA to Tulip... Yes, Yes, also soldering!
You can try to invent something under the connector for the LCD on the Board but... Decisions I never saw a few years ago...
Claudia — taken what-thread small USB klavka, in the manner Defenderesses. Disassembled, the body is discarded, lace — trimmed...
The touchpad — seems to be can be something to buy now, but how lucky!
Battery, etc. etc. — a lot of headaches in the style of the charge control...
Then netgenie talents in order to whip up what-thread case for this miracle...
So in the end — counting Bang Bang on the project attendants, ruined materials, and looking at this monstrous structure, which is not able to operate without external power and half-hours...

So if you are hunting to build a custom laptop — it is better to jump from spare parts NOTE: the desktops did not particularly mobile size and the power of...

www.st.rim.or.jp/~keiz/ — then hang the links in the menu: IMHO, it's the mobile, from what was gathered from the "standard" Xnyh details!
IMHO — now, unlike four years ago, buy the same parts easier...
But even in the 901 EEE — avoid the creation booooolshoy arc!
