How to add text into a mysql table without erasing the old one?

Let's say I have a table of complaints in which there is a field complaint. On this table via the secondary key refers to table "patient". Let's say I added a complaint for the patient. Now how to add a new complaint in the same field, without erasing the old one?

Using the function CONCAT

UPDATE table_name
SET claim = CONCAT( claim, 'then the text should add')
WHERE ...

to add a new entry to the table of complaints, patient ID is the same, the text of the new complaint.
