How to work with the program xneur?

installed xneur. like successfully.in the system tray does not appear. launched via search applications. highlight the words "xneur started", there was an awful sound when typing, has a brain like a woodpecker. made the icon on the toolbar. by clicking on the icon xneur nothing happens, settings are not open, and by the way when I write in the wrong layout, nothing changes. to remove horrible sound could only stop the program by using pkill xneur . appears that the program is stopped. how can I configure this program and how it should work? ps do not judge strictly, in Ubuntu newbie.

xneur daemon, which performs the basic functions;
gxneur is a client that allows you to change the settings and displays the tray icon. It needs to be run separately.
