How to check that gzip works and how to configure it in nginx?

Where Devtools see that gzip is working?

Trying to configure gzip on nginx. Made this config, but nothing changed

server {
 listen 80;
 listen [::]:80;

 server_name example.com;

 root /home/deploy/example-com/dist;
 index index.html;
 gzip_static on;

 location / {
 try_files $uri $uri/ =404;
}

 location /form {
 proxy_pass http://form_data/form;
}
}

This path is the static root /home/deploy/example-com/dist;

How to configure everything and make sure that it works?

Solution
View header of Content-Encoding in the server response. If there exists a gzip, then everything is OK.
ATP understood. It appears by default in nginx is already enabled, but only for html. It is necessary to recommendit settings in the config. https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/h... - alyson commented on June 7th 19 at 14:47
