For osnovu themes using

ACF do not use, because I prefer to make the configuration settings for the templates and General website settings made in the files.
For this use carbonfields.netit is free, but it has everything you need, see the documentation and the section on wp-kama(it is the old version, but the part is still relevant).
He's not as popular, but copes with its task perfectly.
Perhaps it has its drawbacks, but for small sites is great.

As a second option, you can use a Meta Box, but for some pieces it will have to pay.
For example, the General site settings page is created with the help of the paid add-ons plugin
Thanks, will definitely read carbonfields. I think the principle actions they have similar ACF ) Underscores a very cool thing I always use when developing themes. - maya_Kovac commented on June 7th 19 at 15:47
Yes , carbonfields essence the same as ACF, but I think a plus is that the settings for all additional fields are in the admin area.
Not once was such that the clients themselves tried to do something in ACF, broke the field setup, and had to sit to recover.
In carbonfields convenient syntax, and so the difficulty shouldn't be.
About Meta Box too, the reviews are good, but I have not tried it yet - Alexander_We commented on June 7th 19 at 15:50
Carbon fiber is also somehow interested, but it killed:

And plugin and do not need to install.
Read a little Doc can see what a library can be installed via composer and this option is preferable.

If you go to the page of the library on github and see when was the latest release and what is planned, we can understand that the library is supported and developed. - Alexander_We commented on June 7th 19 at 15:56

Carbon Fields long ago ceased to be a plugin and that's fine. But if you do not know what Composer is, it is sad. - Baylee_Kulas commented on June 7th 19 at 16:05
Alternative CMB2 - kenyon_Hodkiewicz11 commented on June 7th 19 at 16:08
ACF-configs can also be exported to a file and delete the configs from the admin panel. - tillman_Kuphal commented on June 7th 19 at 16:11

In some cases it is more efficient to use a visual Builder, such as: Builder Beaver. What I like him - easily extendable, easy to fit used a CSS framework, so there were no big differences between the blocks drawn up by the Builder and the framework. Then there is a wonderful feature as saved templates and sections, which gives a huge increase in the speed of Assembly of similar modules. ACF is good for the purposes of creating the catalogue elements with custom data fields to stretch more effectively landing the same builders.
