How to get data from database in Django?

In all tutorials it is said that the data in the database for processing can be accessed through the API. But the question is. How do I make requests? From separate file-the handler of models.py or views.py?
I mean, I need to click the button by the user in the database was recorded data from TextField(it is), and then worked out and processed.
How to do it?
