Software for collaboration between thousands of employees?
The challenge is to facilitate communication between people in the firm. There are 3 different firms, a total population of 1,000 people and different locations.
There are a lot of different departments, bosses, employees, etc.
need to do sort mail email@example.com
as well as to raise a simple chat between all departments for quick communications. also needed to raise convenient for all phone directory with the integration of email and chat rooms.
Is there any ready solutions, or suggestions?

For Windows - M$ Exchange, but it is not cheap and requires licenses for each connection + M$ Lynx (it also costs money)
