How to implement the recognition of auto numbers in Python using Opencv?

Friends, burning cum! Can't connect the dots, to make it a physical implementation... the control of access to the fleet. Working principle: the machine pulls Viesgo, the camera determines its number and if that number is in the database, the signal for the opening of the gate. As soon as the car stopped, and a different camera captures her entrance and delivers a signal to close the barrier.
There is a barrier CAME-G4000, controller for gate - STS-407K, ip camera 2pcs. But absent the recognition of car numbers with the database.
I offered to buy the Raspberry and there install Python and deploy Opencv. But I don't understand the next step how to deploy, how to connect the camera and software do I need to connect the controller? I'm a beginner and don't understand

You need to break the task into subtasks:
  1. The software part:
    • periodically capture a picture from the camera to determine whether the car in front of the gate (determination of the presence of the vehicle on the image)
    • detection of vehicle number (determination of the coordinates of a parallelogram in the image) and the alignment region
    • directly the identification number of the auto (OCR)
    • the processing logic of the number of cars

  2. Hardware: interaction between different devices

OCR: it is sufficient to use a Tesseract

Identification numbers on Rasberry unlikely to succeed.
I have now turns the server with the identification numbers (3 cameras). Intel Core i7-3770 uploaded by 40-50%.

And no offense, but this is not a topic for the diploma. Such software is very expensive (70 Tr per channel) because there is a severe Matan and few can write well.
openalpr tolerably works on the raspberries Autonomous...
And the price in the local market is fun for another reason. - Summer_Sipes85 commented on March 23rd 20 at 18:53
