Why not turn off the monitor?

Laptop asus k53, old.
When you turn off the laptop barely lights up the screen.
When the laptop, if the screen time goes out, you barely seen what was after shutdown.
If you separate off the screen with fn button, it is still - if in the dark you can see the image, you can run and see everything.

This degradation of the matrix? It is clear that the laptop is old, but it is interesting to understand why.

This degradation of the matrix?

No, it turns off the backlight. The image is visible, because it never ceased to appear.
Thank you.
And why on other monitors this is not? Naive question, but still. - Broderick commented on March 23rd 20 at 19:08
@Broderick, I don't know if the laptop does not disable entirely. - Sydney_Cole commented on March 23rd 20 at 19:11
