How difficult to learn wireshark?

How difficult to learn? Do I need to learn the protocols first? If so, where to start learning about them... not to get lost? And is it possible to make it (wireshark) with python (which libraries to use for comfortable reading of the data)?.. Understand that everything in the heap, do not judge strictly. Rookie.
