Mysql for the email marketer — what functions need to know?

Hello!

Usually in email marketing generalist marketer works with the project Manager or other it professional who can deliver tasks to obtain the desired data from the database.
Suppose that such a specialist is not, and our marketer need to pull the data, for example, to conduct regular mailings. He will need email, excellent, name, demographic data, data on purchases (amount, time of purchase, product name) + some events that gathers analytical system (date of last visit, the place was a visit or registration, etc.). Knowledge on the part of the work with databases and our specialist a little, but to get the data he would have.

Actually, the question is: where to start to do all the above yourself? I.e. to find/determine the right data type and how to withdraw (unload to csv, api, etc.). Possible links to the videos, articles, personal experience.

Solution
It is best to pre-design core scripts to query data and ask techspecs to do a form with password access, which can drop-down lists and checkboxes to make a selection of what I need, and having obtained the necessary data on the "Download" button to download them.

If pressed:
1. To understand the principles of relational database (construction database based on relationships),
here now there is one main principle — 3 normal form, read:

2. Obviously to get a tool to access the database and to learn podklyuchaetsya to it

3. Learn how to do queries with SELECT, that is read-only:
  • query from 1 table with different conditions
  • query 2 or more tables with relationships to the terms, for example to choose all users with the name Andrew, and data for these users in other tables orders

Exercise: sql-ex.ru/learn_exercises.php

4. To save:
  • to learn how to upload a file ,to be downloaded for later use
  • find the Converter for the driving of the SQL result to csv, here found this: www.convertcsv.com/sql-to-csv.htm, but maybe there are better
  • or learn to program, if you have an Analytics view in the direction of Python
Yes, a good option, thanks.
but I also want to understand that you have to study/to learn in the least favorable scenario, when you say, "now base, get what we need myself." - dana_Johnson commented on June 8th 19 at 17:01
you need:
- understand the 3 normal form definitely, maybe, data spread over multiple tables with relationships
(example : orders and users separately, in order to just have a field user_idthat refers to user from other table with id which is equal to user_id)
- understand how to draw samples considering these relations - Mohamed_Lind75 commented on June 8th 19 at 17:04

sorry, the answer above will rather confuse you than help - Mohamed_Lind75 commented on June 8th 19 at 17:07
