What is the analogue of (.|\n)*?

Expression (.|\n)* I use when you need to find any number of any characters, including newline. But if I don't need to make this value into an array what to do? Or rather I need the array to make a different meaning which is contained in (.|\n)* how to do it?

@Velma24, I would like to have a look at this review. But overall don't see the problem. Will be 1% slower or something? Or application krasnitsa? - foster commented on April 3rd 20 at 19:05
