Why doesn't VLOOKUP in Excel 2007?

Good afternoon.
There is a table.
On the first page: names and inv. rooms. And the column in which the name matches with inv. number to bring uniqueness.
On the second sheet: lists by room number room name and number.
On the second sheet, you select the name from the drop-down list from the first sheet and stamped the number. Thus it is necessary that inventory number displayed next to the column.

Use the VLOOKUP function: the first table looking for the name selected from the drop-down list in the second table, and deduce the corresponding value of the column inv. rooms.
Not working.
Works approximately with the value "True", but it gives out any numbers. If False, then figushki.
Moreover, even if I copy the value from the list on the second sheet, I search did not find it on the ground from which it was taken!

Solution
VLOOKUP searches from left to right.
In your example there is a search in the pivot table in columns A:C and taken for the second column. Sootvesvenno, the search is on column A in the PivotTable, not As options: the sheet the pivot table in the following column, in stolbun D, duplicate invento.rooms and use the VLOOKUP range "sognatore With:D. or column And put unique values of S.
Thank you! it helped:
on the sheet the pivot table in the following column, in stolbun D, duplicate invento.rooms and use the VLOOKUP range "sognatore With:D.

Frequent error when using VLOOKUP - different data format. For example in one table the number is stored as a number, and in another table the number is stored as text.
I'm looking for a string and want to get the number from another cell. I see no conflict. - cathrine_Koss commented on April 4th 20 at 13:07
