Where and where to change the path to run PosgreSQL?

A little googling realized that the problem is in the way, but how to fix is still not understood, below is the information from the terminal of the path where you raise postgres

postgres@student:/home/student$ psql
psql: could not connect to server: No such file or directory
Is the server running locally and accepting
connections on Unix domain socket "/tmp/.s.PGSQL.5432"?
postgres@student:/home/student$ uname-a
Linux student 4.10.0-37-generic #41~16.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Fri Oct 6 22:42:22 UTC 2017 i686 i686 i686 GNU/Linux

If you installed from a package, then just sudo systemctl start postgresql.service
