Does not work max-width in IE11?

Good day!
When you use max-width for
.section2__item
IE11 blocks do not accommodate the width of the parent to use flexbox.

And when used for
.section2__item
properties just the width, everything works fine.

<section class="section2">
 <div class="container">
 <div class="section2__items-block">
 <div class="section2__item">
 <div class="section2__item-img item1">
 <img src="./img/block2_1.png" alt="item1" />
</div>
 <div class="section2__item-title">title</div>
 <div class="section2__item-description">
description
</div>
</div>
 <div class="section2__item item2">
 <div class="section2__item-img">
 <img src="./img/block2_2.png" alt="item2" />
</div>
 <div class="section2__item-title">
title
</div>
 <div class="section2__item-description">
description
</div>
</div>
 <div class="section2__item item3">
 <div class="section2__item-img">
 <img src="./img/block2_3.png" alt="item3" />
</div>
 <div class="section2__item-title">
title
</div>
 <div class="section2__item-description">
description
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
 </section>

.section2__items-block {
 margin-top: 30px;
 display: -webkit-box;
 display: -webkit-flex;
 display: -ms-flexbox;
 display: flex;
 -webkit-flex-wrap: wrap;
 -ms-flex-wrap: wrap;
 flex-wrap: wrap;
 -webkit-box-pack: justify;
 -webkit-justify-content: space-between;
 -ms-flex-pack: justify;
 justify-content: space-between;
}
.section2__item {
 display: -webkit-box;
 display: -webkit-flex;
 display: -ms-flexbox;
 display: flex;
 -webkit-flex-wrap: wrap;
 -ms-flex-wrap: wrap;
 flex-wrap: wrap;
 width: 30%;
 position: relative;
}

What am I doing wrong or is it OK to use width. and not max-width?
