Create a Python package. What is the error?

I have a package with this structure:
some_project
-- some of the
---- __init__.py
---- core.py
-- source
---- file.txt
-- setup.py

I need the contents of the source was distributed along with the package and I could open these files in
core.py using open()

I write in setup.py > setup:
data_files=[('source', ['source/file.txt'])]

But when installing, get:
error: can't copy 'source\file.txt': doesn't exist or not a regular file
What is the error and how to do it right?
