Can I edit the modules?

Good day!

That's just start to use opencart and need to know what file to edit to upgrade nothing flew.

Can I edit the modules?
For example there is a standard module "Slideshow", its pattern is /admin/view/template/design.
The module itself uses the "Swiper" slider, which is quite happy, but need more fields.

So, if I'm in the admin folder add new fields and set up the template, it won't fly off with all this upgrading?

For example in Wordpress there is a file Function.php hooks where you can add all the necessary functions and nothing will fly when you upgrade. Maybe there is something similar.

In advance - thank you!

Solution
Yes, OpenCart is the way it is done - edits. The architecture of such, hence the crutches like vqmod and ocmod. As there is an interesting implementation of the hooks is called the hook pre render.

Opencart is rarely updated unlike Wordpress.
The latest version hardly anyone uses because it's bad modules first.
I'm still trying to work with the versions of the second line, although the third came out in June.
To store the changes and they did not fly, there is a mechanism of modifiers ocmod.

Not quite true. There is not a template module Slideshow. And pattern in Design>Banners.
Ie the banners are added in one place, and the modules, Slideshows, Banners and think Swiper is also already using the data about these banners from DB.
