How to reduce the size .ai file, pulling images into a separate folder?

Remember earlier when packaging the file ("file/package..") could be all of the bitmaps in the source code to pull in a separate folder and link link. Therefore, the source became much less, because he did not keep the rasters, but it was required to it the folder "links".

Now he is doing the same thing, but all the rasters still leaves the source. Who faced such problem?

You can search for embedded bitmaps in the window "Connections" or "Links". In the menu you can find the item "Extract" and specify a name and location for the extracted image file. When you see the file in Illustrator it will be associated.
P. S. you can Also see the button "checkout" under the standard menus: File, Edit, etc. when just highlight an interesting picture
